Help Me Choose My MLB Team

The only sport I've followed through my entire life is college basketball. I was born a Kentucky basketball fan, and I still am to this day. In 2010 I became a Utah Jazz fan when Gordon Hayward, who had just challenged Duke in the national championship game, was drafted to Utah. In 2019 I became a Buffalo Bills fan when I needed an NFL team and wanted to pick one with a lovable fanbase. In 2020 I became a Colorado Avalanche fan because they were close to Utah and had a cool name and cool jerseys. Well now I am back on the hunt for a team, and this time around we are looking at the MLB.
It's always been very hard for me to follow professional baseball. There are so many games, and those games are so long. I also don't like that you basically watch a new team every game with lineups changing day-to-day. However, I know that I would be able to keep up better if I had a team to root for and rivals to root against. I have narrowed down my list of potential teams, and I am going to list them here and give you all the reasons why I think I could be a fan of that team.
Colorado Rockies
The Rockies have been my number one target for a while now. Geographically they are the closest to the Avalanche and the Jazz. They have some of the coolest jerseys and coolest colors, and Colorado is just an awesome place. I actually already have some cool Rockies merch from a trip I took to Colorado. The main downside is that from what I've been told they are horrible and don't have a great chance at being decent anytime soon. This is not good for a guy who wants to make a career out of talking about sports. I already fell into that trap as a Jazz fan, because not a soul cares about what I have to say about the Jazz. If I was just going to be a casual fan I would have already picked the Rockies, but their prospects as a franchise scare me.

Tampa Bay Rays
A lot like the Rockies, the Rays are a very cool team with a very cool theme. They are in a good location, and the fact that they're in Florida would definitely allow me to do more content about them. They are a consistently good team, and if I were to pick them I wouldn't feel like a bandwagon. However, I know a few Rays fans and all of them complain about how poorly the franchise is ran. I don't want to be a fan of a team whose ownership is too cheap to better the franchise. On top of that, I have absolutely zero connection to Florida or any of their teams. I guess that doesn't matter too much, it didn't stop me when I chose Buffalo as my NFL team despite hating the state of New York. All in all, I feel like I would enjoy being a Rays fan, but it just feels a little disingenuous.

Miami Marlins
I'm not going to repeat myself, but in short almost all of the pros of Tampa Bay are the pros for Miami. The only differences are that 1. I own a Marlins jersey and 2. The franchise is seemingly slightly more stable. The negatives are also pretty much the same for the most part, again apart from the below average ownership. I think I would like Miami as a city better than I would like Tampa Bay, but I am still not sold on the Marlins as a team I could genuinely root for.

Milwaukee Brewers
The final team on my prospect list is the Brewers. They just seem like a staple of consistency. I don't know anything about them, but I feel like I could legitimately root for the them. They're close enough to the Avalanche and Jazz for me to feel regionally comfortable. I like their colors and their jerseys, and I just feel like I could be a Brewers fan. The Bucks are my second favorite NBA team, so I do like the city of Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin. They do suffer from being a team I don't think a ton of readers would care about, but that isn't incredibly important at the end of the day.

All in all this is how I would rank these teams at potential favorites in my eyes: Rockies, Brewers, Marlins, Rays. However, I want to hear your feedback, so if you actually made it to the end of this blog please comment your opinion. Thankyou and god bless.
